HOME STUDIO PRODUCTION
& SONGWRITING COURSE
If you have always wanted to learn how to set up a basic home studio, and record you own tracks, there's never been a better time than now! With the advent of leading technology in music production, expensive recording studios are no longer a musician's only option. Technology has shrunk in size and cost such that some of the biggest hits on the radio have actually been produced by teenagers on their laptops, and in their bedrooms.
You can literally order your entire hardware gear online and have it delivered to your doorstep. There's even a ton of amazing FREE virtual instruments (VST) and digital signal processors (DSP) you can download off the internet as well.
CUSTOMISED DAW SETUP
In this course, I will work closely with you on how to best utilise your budget to create a neat little home studio that's specifically suited to your musical goals.
I will teach you how to configure your digital audio workstation (DAW), connect your instruments to the DAW and how to practice good workflow and organisation.
Together we will create project templates and VST/DSP presets for quick easy access so that whenever inspiration strikes, you can just hit record without worrying about technical problems.
Bob Dylan once sang “All I got is a red guitar, three chords and the truth.” And he's not wrong!
A song is basically a bunch of chords played to a rhythm with a melody to top it off. It doesn't have to be too complicating, but it certainly helps to know how to begin the songwriting process with a toolbox of musical devices seasoned songwriters use.
Once we have your home studio all set up, I will show you the ropes to creating your own songs on the DAW using fail-proof chord progressions, rhythm variations, and creative melodic approaches.
We will also explore composing in different music genres (folk, pop, rock, EDM, funk, soul etc) so that you will never run out of ideas in pushing your creativity as a songwriter.
MIXING & MASTERING BASICS
After all that hard work composing and recording, the last and final step would be to give it a decent mixdown to polish up the songs and make them sound fit for your family and friends (and fans!) to enjoy.
ESSENTIALS YOU'LL STUDY:
Understanding signal flow
Balancing your mix
EQ, compression & limiter
Apply audio effects tastefully
Mix buss processing
... and more!
